What You Should Know About: Our Jamaican Friends :)

**The Smikel Family**
The first person I'd like to introduce you to is Pastor Ransford Smikel.  We met Pastor 8 years ago when we served with him on the other side of the island.  Pastor was called to move his family to Spaldings to serve as head pastor of Spalding Gospel Assembly Church.  Pastor is a strong man of God with a compassionate heart.  He is seeking to draw many, especially men and young people, into the church and share the love of God to them.  Few men are active in the churches and there are few programs available for teens, but he desires to change this.  He thoroughly enjoys the concerts and the impact that it's made on his congregation and the community.

Pastor Smikel is married to Everine who works as a neonatal nurse and is in school to become a midwife.  They have two daugthers, Kishaw and Karissa.  They are in the process of building a home in Contrivance (where we will do a concert one night). We will also be helping with construction on his house.

I made that dress for her :) hehe

**Juliet**
This is our cook, Juliet.  She is so friendly and loves serving our team by cooking our meals.  She's been our cook for about 3 years and she always spoils us with amazing food!  She loves showing others how she cooks things and will even hook you up with some fresh lemon grass tea, Blue Mountain coffee (with Betty sweetened condensed milk of course), and hot chocolate! She loves fellowshipping with the team and joining in on our prayers!

**The Campbell Family**
We have known Nancy and Tony Campbell for 8 years.  They served with Pastor on the other side of the island and followed him when he moved.  Nancy has the sweetest laugh and spirit.  We love being able to spend time with her as she is super friendly and always joyful.  Nancy also braids hair, so if you're looking at getting some cornrows or a few braids, make sure you bring a little extra money to support her! She does a great job and she's really fast!  Tony, has a quiet demeanor, but a tender heart, just like Nancy.  He's very funny, too.  He works at a hospital and gardens with Nancy for a living.  They have a daughter named Shacki and two grandkids: their grandson, Triney (18) and a sweet grandaugther named, Lacey (6). The best way to describe Lacey is "the most adorable bundle of joy ever" haha.  She's great.  She will always make you smile.

**Norman and Daniel**
I couldn't find a picture of him, but Norman works at Kendal Camp :)  Here are some pictures of his son, Daniel. You'll definitely see both of them around camp helping and hanging out. Both Norman and Daniel always have a smile on their face. Daniel loves playing sports games, Spiderman, and anything else you want to share or play with him.  They are both SO sweet.. you'll love them.

**The Browns**
Lastly, there is Sister Ruth and Richard Brown. Sister Ruth is the head principal of Spaldings Primary School and Richard serves as a police officer. They are both involved in Spaldings Gospel Assembly Church and other churches in the area. They are dedicated to growing up the future generations to be God fearing men and women. We love them, too!!

What You Should Know About: Kendal Camp - What to do

Now that you've seen Kendal Camp, it's a good time to talk about what there is to do around camp. Here are some ideas about things to do and what to pack...

Play cards
Take a quick nap :)
Enjoy some Blue Mountain Coffee
Fly a kite
Blow Bubbles
Enjoy some late night snacks like PB&J and Jerk Chicken
Spend your quiet time on the veranda
Ultimate Frisbee
Hoop it up
Grab a snack, candy, or a Coke from the Tuk Shop located in the office
Do something awesome for your S.E.P. (Secret Encouragement Partner). *Everyone is assigned another team member to encourage once a day during the week. At the end of the week, we'll reveal who was each other's secret partner. What should yo do for your S.E.P.? Pray for them, write a short note, and secretly deliver. (Be sneaky!) You can add some candy or gum if you want.. some people get pretty creative :) We'll talk more about S.E.P.'s later on..
Bubble gum blowing competition... :)

Eat some snacks.. good things to bring: mini snack bags, crackers, granola bars, lollipops, LOTS of gum! No chocolate.. you can buy some from the Tuk Shop though :)
Join the week long "Pole Ringing" competition. All you have to do is grab an acorn and aim for the pole at the front of the camp.  If you have good enough aim, you'll hear a "ding!" Who will ring the pole the most times during the week? :)
DO NOT WORRY.. this is NOT a drop off! hahaha.. there's about a 2 foot drop onto a grassy area below, but it's fun taking pictures looking like you're jumping
Enjoy a good meal
& of course, there are plenty of opportunities to chop it up and build lasting relationships with your team members
