Jamaica 2011 Overview

On June 29 through July 6, 2011, our team will be traveling to Jamaica on a week long mission trip! The primary focus of our trip will be concert outreaches in four Jamaican communities. B.A.N.G. (Building A New Generation) was initiated in the summer of 2009 and has become a widely accepted and anticipated event. The mission this summer, supported through Freestyle Missions, is to present the Good News of Christ in a relevant way to young people by bringing artists to Jamaica for the third annual B.A.N.G. concert event.
Bobby Bishop, Corey Hicks, and artists from the Heart of hip-hop, will be serving as artists on the four day tour to the parishes/cities of Spaldings, Melrose, Contrivance, and Kingston. We will be having a CD & t-shirt give aways for the attendees. They love receiving these gifts! Kids are still listening to their CD's and wearing their t-shirts from last year! We will also be sharing the Gospel in a public school during an additional concert put on for over 300 elementary aged children! Not only will we be on tour, but we will also be offering workshops for youth and adults in the area such as: a marriage conference, pastor training, drama and rap sessions, sport games, and children activities. We will also be putting on a basketball clinic and tournament through Cross It Up! for the youth in Kingston. Additionally, we plan to serve Spaldings Gospel Assembly Church by assisting with light construction work on their new facility, as well as, helping the pastor who is building a home with his own hands. We're so excited for the opportunity to serve in jamaica this summer!
